The assertion that sex sells has driven many musicians into using sexually explicit and suggestive lyrics as contents in their songs to have massive followers and lovers of their music. Most musicians use such words thinking that is what their fans want whiles others do it to draw attention to their songs. When you list songs making waves, majority of the songs have foul languages.

Kaakie, Wisa, Kuborlor and other musicians have songs that cannot be
played on air currently due to the rate of vulgar words used. Below is the list of ten Ghanaian secular artistes who are noted for their decent lyrics ever since they started doing music commercially.

1. Obrafour: Ace Ghanaian rapper Michael Kwabena Okyere Darko popularly
known as Obrafour, since he came into the limelight in 1999 with his Pae Mu Ka album, has released over thirty hit songs which all have great chivalrous, candid, inspiring content that educates and enlightens listeners of his music. Also, he is known for his rich proverbial phrase in all his songs. These are some Songs that Obrafour has released so far none has any sexual connotation or abusive words. Nkontompo, Pimpinaa, Odasani, Wiase, Heavy, Pae Mu Ka, Asem Sebe, Aboa Oni Dua, Who Born You by Mistake, Maame and many others.

2. Okyeame Kwame: Multiple award winning rapper, Okyeame Kwame who is one of the two hiplife musicians whose poetry and music is studied in Universities in Ghana, has been in the music industry for two decades. Irrespective of how long he has been in
the industry, there is no line of his rap that suggests sex or preaches fornication. Though he has hit songs like: Faithful, Small Small, Me Twen Wo, Sika, Woso, he still churns out good songs and has discerning listeners patronizing his works.

3. Bisa K Dei: Ghanaian high life front liner  Bisa K Dei has managed to get over ten hit songs within four years of being considered as a main stream artiste. The highlife artiste who is currently flying the flag high is also doing well at his field. It is noted that most highlife songs are about love so definitely there will be sexually explicit
or suggestive lyrics like Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, Dada K D, Quarme Zaggy and the other renowned high life artistes  do.

Since highlife is mostly about love, majority of them fall victim of such lyrics. Bisa K Dei has hit songs like: Saa, I Love You, Brother Brother, Give it To
Baba, Mansa, Azonto Ghost, Over, Samina, 6 Strings,feeling and many more, yet none sends negative massages.

4. Becca: Zylofon signed artiste Rebecca Akosua Acheamponmaa known in showbiz as Becca, though she doesn’t write most of her songs, doesn’t have any of her commercial songs about sex or any dirty lyrics. The celebrated songstress has over the years contributed to the music industry by giving the up and coming female artistes hope that, they don’t need to use dirty language before they can break through. Popular songs by the silky voiced Becca are: Hwe, Daa Ke Daa, Push, Forever, No
Away, African Woman, You Lied to Me, Move and many others, are all songs with good content.

5. Knii Lante: Ghanaian based musician born Nii Okunka Blankson who is widely known as Knii Lante has been recognized not only in Ghana but the world market
at large due to the kind of music he does. Aside his strong vocal power, Knii Lante chooses his words carefully. Songs released by him are: Baby Take Good Care, Thinking Out Loud, When You Love Somebody, Chameleon, Freedom, Box Guitar, Big trees, Loving you, House of Pain and many others. He is among the few musicians who have discerning listeners.

6. Mz Vee: Lynxx Entertainment vocalist and BET Nominee Mz Vee born Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda has over the years churn out hits like: Natural girl,Abofra,Rewind, Borkor Borkor, Daavi and others without any suggestive lyrics.

7.Flowking Stone: Twisting lyrical genius and one half of music duo Bradez Flowking Stone performed as an artiste like: I Do Love You,  Nsroma and the others, almost all the songs he has written for people are well arranged with well – mannered lyrics.

8.Kinaata:VGMA high life artiste of the year,Kofi Kinaata who is really doing very well with singing, is one of the few rappers who delivers well on every song he does or being featured on but always restrain from appalling lyrics. Kofi who is under the management of Highgrade Family has hit songs like: Confession, oh Azay, Fante Rap God, Onyi chorus,  Sweetie Pie, Susuka and many others

9. Manifest: 2013 best rapper of the year, Kwame Ametepee Tsikata known in showbiz as Manifest comes across as one of the few rappers with good punch lines. Manifest has been able to win a lot of music lovers with his deep lyrics over the years making him part of Ghanaian artistes with good content. He has songs like: No Shortcut to Heaven, W’ani Aba,Forget Dem.          

10. Akwaboah: From a music oriented
genealogy, Songwriter, performer, instrumentalist Kwabena Akwaboah Junior is really putting up his best in his song writing skills. Aside the songs he has performed as an artiste like: I Do Love You,  Nsroma and the others, almost all the songs he has written for people are well arranged with well – mannered lyrics.

    On the other hand, there are majority of Ghanaian artistes who intentionally sing about sex, use suggestive or explicit lyrics in their songs for fun and also to get the attention of those who love it.

The following are some of the artistes well known for abusive, offensive, sexually suggestive and explicit lyrics: Kaakie, Kwabena Kwabena, Samini, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Ebony,Kwaw Kese, Tinny,
 Yaa Pono, Mz Bel, Joey B.
