FEMALE DANCEHALL ARTISTE AK SONGSTRESS 'BEST HIGH LIFE' MUSIC VIDEO NOMINATION STIRS UP CONTROVERSY

If there’s one thing award schemes thrive on more than anything, it’s controversy. A single eyebrow-raising moment or comment has the ability to dominate the news cycle and lift 4syte Music awards brand into the headlines.

It’s like planning a big party. You can make sure the food is hot, the drinks are plentiful and the decorations are just right, but once an acquaintance pees in the punch bowl, that’s all everyone remembers.

When it comes to the 4syte Music Video Awards, nobody knows quite what to expect and this year is sure to be no different.

This year’s nomination list for the 4Syte Music Video Awards was unveiled this month and the real female dancehall artiste in Ghana, Ak Songstress grabbed three (3) nominations.
She has nominations for the Best Choreography Video, Best Female Video category and Best Hi-Life music Video with a song titled 'Odo' which has become talk of town.

Reggae/dancehall music lovers are unhappy with organizers of the scheme because they  do not understand why a dancehall artiste should be nominated in a high life category. They took their grief to Facebook bashing the organizers for poor research.

Sarkodie leads with 9 nominations — Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Captain Planet and Becca all have 6 , R2bees had 5 while gospel songstress Joyce Blessing had a slot for the only gospel category that is the Best Gospel Video category with her visuals for “The Lords Prayer single.

The awards will come off on 18th November, 2017 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
